Hi, I’m Nat Fassler (they / them) 👋

I’ve been on a long journey of personal discovery, and can’t wait to support you on your own journey.

My Story

I have been navigating the question of purpose in work for my entire adult life.

After completing my undergraduate degree at Rutgers, I found myself struggling with the oft-asked question: "what do I do now?" Here I was, a college activist steeped in radical politics, who somehow graduated with a degree in Business Marketing. The conflict between these two paths was not lost on me, nor on my friends and family who were confused by the seeming contradictions of an activist with an interest in business. But these contradictions led to joining the board of directors for my local food cooperative, and my first career working in digital marketing and campaigning for sustainability-focused brands and progressive nonprofits. I got to work with fabulous clients doing important work including Human Rights Campaign, The Wilderness Society, and Planned Parenthood. Yet, my day-to-day work never felt fully aligned. So five years into this career, I decided to pursue a graduate degree in business sustainability at the University of Michigan.

It was during my grad program where I first fell in love with coaching. Working with a student coach, I felt profoundly changed by simple questions and a depth of presence. I became committed to building this capacity myself, completing my first coach training, co-creating a graduate course on generative coaching, and working as a career counselor for the university. This passion for coaching and a curiosity about compassionate ways of working led me to found a company, Thrively, to support organizations developing candid feedback cultures. Two years later, with six-figures in grad school debt and a kid on the way, I had to put my entrepreneurial path on hold. I found I had a skill for product management in the frothy world of tech startups, which I enjoyed but never felt values-aligned with.

A decade into my career in product, despite my “success” with multiple leadership roles at buzzy startups and mind-boggling salaries that paid off my debt, I found myself completely burnt out. I had been let go from four jobs in three years, navigated a pandemic with two young kids, came out as queer and trans nonbinary, and went through a painful divorce. The universe kept giving me clear signs that my work and life was not aligned with who I was. With the support of a coach (and therapist), I left the lucrative world of tech startups to launch my coaching practice full time and pursue my coach certification.

Today, I feel so grateful to have found a calling in coaching. It has given me tools for my own healing and growth, and I am profoundly changed every time I get to support a client in their own growth. Now I get to offer the wisdom and presence I’ve gained from a long journey seeking alignment with my values in my work and life. I look forward to supporting you in your journey.
